Total sales increased by 17.1% compared to August 2019. In August, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 1,16,604 vehicles in the domestic market.
In August, Maruti Suzuki India sold a total of 1,16,604 vehicles in the domestic market. Less than 94,728 cars were sold during this time in 2019. The agency said this on Tuesday.
According to the company, this number also includes their Super Carry LCVs and other cars sold on OEM.
However, like every year, the mini and compact sub-segments have been the most sold. Compared to the 2019 accounts, the sales volume has increased by 26.7% due to these two categories.
According to estimates, utility vehicles have also sold well in the last month. At the peak of demand were the 2020 Vitara Breza, the newly launched 2020 S-Cross, Ertiga and XL6 models. Sales in the sub-segment increased by 13.5% over the previous year.
However, Maruti’s sedan division has failed to meet expectations. Where Hyundai’s 2020 Verna and Honda City’s Fifth Generation City have dominated the market, Maruti’s sedan Ciaz has not been able to take advantage of the rivals. Only 1,223 of these models were sold in August.
In addition, Maruti’s car exports fell by 15.3%. Maruti has been able to send only 8,920 vehicles abroad.
However, the total number of vehicles sold in the export and domestic markets combined, Maruti’s business has improved over the past month. Despite the Covid situation, total sales increased by 16.1% compared to August 2019.
