Pranab Mukherjee was infected with Coronavirus. So Pranab Mukherjee’s body was taken in a special hearse, not in an armored vehicle, according to the Corona rules. Pranabbabu’s last rites wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) kit were completed by his son Abhijit Mukherjee.

“The body of former President Pranab Mukherjee has been taken in a hearse instead of a military vehicle to comply with social distance rules and other protocols related to Covid,” Defense Ministry officials told ANI.

Due to the corona, all the protocols were followed at Pranab Babu’s residence at 10 Rajaji Marg on Tuesday morning. According to sources, time was allotted for the last homage. President Ramnath Kobind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other Union ministers and political leaders paid their last respects to Pranab Babu.

Congress leaders told PTI that they had laid a wreath at Pranab Babu’s house. Pranab Babu’s body was kept in another room due to Corona rules. They have seen it from afar.

Besides, those who came to see Pranab Babu for the last time wore masks. Many were also using face shields. The officers in charge of security are also following all the security rules.

After lying for a while on Rajaji Marg, Pranab Babu’s body was taken to the crematorium on Lodhi Road in Delhi in a special hearse after one o’clock in the afternoon. Those in the hearse were also wearing PPE. All the covid protocols are followed there too. After PPE, his father’s funeral was held by his son Abhijit Mukherjee.
