After the strictures of the first day, the Kolkata Metro Authority relaxed the e-pass rules for senior citizens. From now on, senior citizens will be able to take the metro without e-pass. This was informed on behalf of Kolkata Metro on Tuesday. However, e-pass is mandatory for everyone during busy times.

According to the Kolkata Metro, they have relaxed the e-pass rules keeping in mind the problems of senior citizens. From now on, senior citizens will be able to use Metro service without e-pass in non-peak hours from 11.30 am to 4.30 pm. They can use metro service only by using smart card. However, a government identity card must be brought along as proof of age.

Kolkata Metro service has started for everyone from Monday. Only smart card holders can get e-pass and board the metro. And with this e-pass collection, a new commotion has started. To many, the rules for collecting e-passes seem complicated. Especially senior citizens have expressed their disability in this regard. Many have poor eyesight. Many have lost control of their hands and feet. Collecting e-passes is really difficult for them. So at noon, the metro authorities lifted the e-pass rule for senior citizens.
